May 30, 2011 · If you don't specify any number of digits (as in TO_CHAR (x, 'TM') or TO_CHAR (x)), then trailing 0's after the decimal point, and the decimal point itself, if not needed, are not displayed, which is exactly what you want. However, you also want a non-default format for the digits before the decimal point, so you've got to specify digits. First of all, thanks for the quick reply - I tried changing the return type but it doesn't sort as expected. I'm using an ajax data source rather than a dataset so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

To prevent 135.70 from being rounded to an integer, change the datatype of the field in the underlying table (this is probably not a form problem).
